Kate is a singer and community group singing facilitator from Doolin, Co. Clare. She offers workshops with the aim of creating meaningful musical experiences and passionately believes we can positively impact our wellbeing and our communities through singing together.
In 2010, she completed her B.A in Arts; Music (performance) & English from NUI Maynooth and in 2021 received a first-class honours M.A in Community Music at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance. Kate is currently undertaking an arts practice PhD in Community Music at the University of Limerick.
Currently Engagement Officer with Sing Ireland; the national organization for the support, development and promotion of group singing in Ireland, she also works as a facilitator on their Song Seeking programme, offering musical opportunities for people living in temporary accommodation.
Kate works on projects with schools, having led creative music-making workshops with children from North Clare for Crinniú na nÓg in 2022. In 2023 and 2024, Kate received funding to deliver a number of EMBRACE projects, offering singing groups for participants with a disability. As a freelancer, she facilitates sessions with local choirs, festival song circles, and people in addiction recovery across Co. Clare.
As a soloist, Kate performed her debut solo concert at a sell-out performance in the Burren College of Art in 2019, returning in 2022 to give a classical concert as part of the Clare County Council Local Live Performance Scheme at Kilfenora Church. Over the past couple of years, she performs regularly with Mná, a singing trio, alongside Kathleen Malone and Theresa Garrihy.
