Art is Hope was directly commissioned by Clare County Council in 2023.
During Covid, glór created a huge motif in their glazed gallery space that announced Art is Hope providing solace, support and comfort to its audiences and artists and the community at large. Whilst the building was closed, the motif was clearly visible and resonated throughout the county at a very difficult time.
Thankfully things moved on, and with the re-opening of the space, the motif was removed. In recognition of the impact it had, Clare Arts Office commissioned the Art is Hope artwork in the glór car park, so that it’s memory and meaning lives on.
The artist Rachel Macmanus designed the work to maximise the potential of the wall space, and chose colours that are uplifting and positive.
