Replica bust of gold prospector Paddy Hannan (1840 – 1925), dated 1988. Plaque attached which reads: “Presented to the People of the Borough of Ennis, County Clare by the Citizens of the Town of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, May 1988.”

Paddy Hannan, from Sixmilebridge, County Clare, emigrated to Australia at the age of 22 in 1862. He is credited with the discovery of a lucrative goldfield in 1893 in the area now known as Kalgoorlie-Boulder in Western Australia. This area is known as ‘The Golden Mile’, the richest square mile in the world.

The bust is a replica of a full figure statue by John MacLeod in Kalgoorlie, erected in 1929.

1988
