The intention of this artwork was to bring the local history into a public space. Killaloe has a rich history but our most famous son was not depicted in public. King Brian Boru is now facing the mighty Shannon looking over what was once his domain. This art works as a way to highlight our royal past.
The work was commissioned by Killaloe Community Council and created by the artist Eilish Tuite who used acrylic primer and outside acrylic paint as the under colour. She then used regular acrylic. There are gold accents and anti graffiti varnish.
