Clare Arts Office in conjunction with Cultúrlann Sweeney Gallery, Kilkee is delighted to present “REFLEXIONS” an exhibition of artwork by contemporary Irish Artist Paul McMahon.

Paul’s work has been described as “Thought-provoking, striking and impactful with a fearless approach to the subject matter and bold use of colour.”

“Paul McMahon is a very expressive, surrealist artist. Using striking colours and largely abstract techniques, alongside some recognisable elements, McMahon’s work makes for a wild but beautiful, contemporary journey.

Taking his inspiration from everyday moments, beautiful things, his surroundings and of course being influenced by many of the great master artists of the past – Paul McMahon is a very interesting, Irish contemporary artist.” – Kilbaha Gallery.

Having returned to live in Clare after living in the US and the UK, Paul has been inspired to return to his first love of art and painting.

Paul McMahon, as an artist, is very exciting because he is quite fearless. He draws inspiration from some of the master abstract and figurative painters of our time and of old.

This is reflected in his own strong painting style, his fearless approach to the subject matter, and his bold use of colour and movement. With such bold use of colour, shape, and form, he cleverly transfers what resides in his mind onto the canvas.

His art is thought-provoking and bold, original art that truly jumps off the wall in striking and impactful strokes.

This exhibition is an introduction to his contemporary unique work inspired by his surroundings in County Clare. Using mixed medium of oil and Acrylic, Paul has a fearless approach to his work that flows out of his brain and straight onto his canvas.

This exhibition reflects his latest work based on a lifelong love of the place he grew up in.  It’s light, raw wild nature and rich colours and the impact this has on his creative art.
