Join us in celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge!
TUESDAY 11TH OF MARCH 8:00PM
We will be screening two short Irish language films.
“Máire Pháidín, Cara Linn,” is a half hour documentary about inspirational Inis Meáin native Máire Pháidín, aired on TG4 in 2018. Produced and directed by Ceri Garfield, the documentary, and shot some of the footage herself while living on the island.
Mise Raiftearí; Fíodoír Focal was originally written by Tadhg Mac Dhonnagá and adapted into a film about the 19th century poet Antaine Ó Raiftearaí. A radical voice in 19th century Ireland, the blind, illiterate poet and songwriter Raiftearaí left behind a body of verse that offers an invaluable insight into the life of the destitute Irish-speaking population of pre-famine Connacht. The film was directed by Seán Ó Cualáin and aired on TG4 in 2010/2011.
