Nine-year-old Afghan refugee Yahya lives with his mother in Padeh, a small provincial Iranian town. The local children work hard to support their families, salvaging at the nearby landfill for plastic.
By chance one day Yahya and his friend Leyla find an Academy Award which was misplaced in the back of a taxi then lost again by an elderly postal worker. They resolve to return it to its rightful owner. Sharing a passion for cinema, Yahya’s boss Naser Khan (Reza Naji) decides to help them find the owner.

Winners is an entertaining adventure, full of heart and joy. It gains considerable appeal and charm from its young, non-professional cast and it’s innocent, magical ode to cinema.
