Coming from Switzerland originally, Charles Monod moved to Doolin, Co. Clare in 2006 to pursue his passion for Irish Traditional Music. He has been self-taught up until 2021 when he enrolled at the Irish World Academy (University of Limerick) in the MA Irish Traditional Music Performance program, from which he graduated in 2022.

In 2020 Charles released a duet album (“Aughavinna”) with fiddle player JB Samzun, which received very positive feedback and featured extensively on traditional music radio programs (RTE Radio 1, RTE RnaG, Clare FM, etc.).

Charles has been playing gigs in Co. Clare over the last 10 years with established musicians such as James Cullinan, Christy Barry, Noel O’Donoghue, Kevin Griffin and many others. He has performed concerts as well, in venues such as Glór (All-Ireland Fleadh 2017) or the opening concert of ConsairtÍn Festival in Ennis (2022).

Charles also run the “Tunes From Doolin” project, which includes an archive of tunes learned in Co. Clare, a YouTube channel and podcast episodes.
