CLARA is a creative director with a background in Film, Theatre, and Photography. Passionate about portraying women as powerful, daring, and resilient in their vulnerability. Clara is originally from Uruguay and based on the west of Ireland since 2020.
Her latest directorial work, First Date, has been licensed by HBO Europe and RTÉ. She has received several awards, including Best Director at the Director London Awards and Best International Comedy at the Discover Film Festival in London. The film was initially awarded funding through the Engine Shorts scheme by Film in Limerick.
In 2023, she expanded her storytelling to theatre, receiving a grant from Limerick County Council to develop a play about Countess Markievicz and Kathleen Clarke, with its debut reading at Belltable Theatre.
