Jane Murtagh is an Irish Artist Metalsmith. A graduate in Fine Art from Dun Laoghaire School of Art and Design 1979. Jane has attended master classes at West Dean College, UK and Central St Martins in the patination of metals and drawing. She works with non-ferrous metals using the techniques of repousse, forging, etching and gilding to create one-off relief sculptural panels. She works to commission and exhibition and has work in national and international public and private collections.
Jane is inspired by ethnobotany, music and microscopic details from her natural surroundings in Co. Clare. For 30 years she has been a regular exhibitor in Sculpture in Context, Dublin; The Hamilton Gallery, Sligo; glór, Ennis; The Custom House Gallery, Westport; The Blue Egg Gallery, Wexford and The National Design Craft Gallery, Kilkenny.
In 2017 Jane was awarded The RDS Established Maker Award in the Silversmithing & Metalwork Category.
In 2021 Jane was selected for the Made in Ireland exhibition at the National Design Craft Gallery Kilkenny. In 2022 Made in Ireland moved to Farmleigh Gallery Dublin and the F.E. McWilliam Gallery,
