My name is Shay Sweeney. I’m a session musician. My main instruments are Drums, Banjo, Mandolin and Guitar. I have worked with bands such as Hudson Taylor, Ham Sandwich, The Eskies, Rachel Mae Hannon, Pine The Pilcrow, Molly O’Mahony and many others.
I have toured around the UK, Europe, Australia and Fiji. I have played major festivals, including The Main Stage at Electric Picnic. I have also played in venues such as the 3Arena, the 3Olympia and Vicar Street.
To date I have drummed on 10 albums and 6 eps.
I have obtained my BAHons Degree in Modern and Commercial Music, as well as a Diploma in Professional Musicianship from BIMM Dublin, accredited by Technological University Dublin. I am currently obtaining my MA in Irish Traditional Music Performance from the University of Limerick.
