My art career has been intertwined for many years with a career in social work. I grew up in West Clare and always loved the landscape, and painting. The light is unique.
I am an artist with other qualifications in social work. I went to Limerick art college when I left school, then in the UK retrained in psychology and social work. I have always been interested in the power of art to help people. Some years ago I retrained as a Botanical Artist at the Chelsea School of Botanical Art, in London. I returned home at the start of lockdown. I now teach art to children in Miltown Malbay and Kilkee, and run art camps. I am free to paint and draw as much as I want, and I am currently working on a series of paintings of flowers of West Clare, trees on my property, and of course landscapes.
