Shona MacGillivray is a visual artist based in Gort Co.Galway. She has an honours degree in Fine Art form Glasgow School of Art and a National Youth Council of Ireland Certificate in Youth Arts 2015.
Her work is concerned with reconnecting to our environment and biodiversity; Irish wildlife and birds; migration- human and animal; learning through observation; experimentation; exploration and pure enjoyment.
Shona regularly exhibits in Gort Framing Studio, Gort, Co.Galway
She has exhibited in group exhibitions including
2020 Winter Exhibition ,The Courthouse Gallery Ennistymon.

2002- to present Embrace programme- arts and disability, Clare Arts Office.
2019/2021 Teacher Artist Partnership CPD summer course, Galway Education Centre, Lead Artist.
She is a member of the VAI, KAVA artists , Kinvara and NOY ( Not Over Yet) collective, Kinvara area.
She has been the recipient of awards and grants including
2019 Clare Arts Office/Embrace programme. Welcome To My World, long term residency, St.Anne’s School and CBS, Ennis. Project presented at the National Arts in Education Portal Day 2019
2020 Galway Co. Heritage Office, Burren Legends and Lore. Collaborative Story telling/visual art response school workshops .
2021 TAP special initiative project award. Education Centre and Kids Own.
Her art work has been commissioned by First Fortnight, Galway 2020, Galway Tidy Towns, Gort Tidy Towns, Galway City and County Libraries, Lisk manufacturing Ltd, Gort, Coole Park NPW, Gallery Café Gort, and held in private collections.
