Tara Keegan is a Visual Artists & Participatory Artist based in Scarriff in the east of Co. Clare.
She holds a MA in Art & Design, Social Practice and the Creative Environment 2018 and a BA in Fine Art Sculpture & Combined Media 2017 from the Limerick School of Art & Design.
Her arts practice operates between two different but interconnecting parallel practices where one informs the other. Coming from a sculptural background she brings her experience as a visual artist, maker and performer into her participatory arts practice by engaging in collaborative processes that can also allow work to evolve over time. Keegan is fascinated with the effects produced through the projection of self through materials, sculpture, installation and sound and the human body is ever present in her studio practice. In her work the body’s inhabitation of space and time is fragmented into colour, sound, matter and form, exploring growth, disease, cells, reproductive organs and the body in time and process.
She has exhibited in 126 Artist Run Gallery Galway 2019, Imagine Arts Festival Waterford 2017, K-FEST Arts Festival Killorglin Kerry 2016, 2017, Plinth 111 Old Sailors Home Limerick 2017, Knocklong 1916 Commemoration Co. Limerick and Green Crafts All Together Now Waterford 2019. Keegan has also Exhibited/Collaborated with Festival Republic for Electric Picnic Arts Trail for the last six years.
She is a member of VAI, 126 Artist Run Gallery Galway and Ormston House Limerick. Permanent Collections / Work in Situ, her work has been awarded and commissioned by the EU Strasbourg pour l’Europe France (Benches for Europe) outside the European Parliament in Strasbourg France 2017.
