Clare Arts Office, Embrace Arts and Disabilities programme is delighted to announce Fionnathan Productions, Fionn and Jonathan Angus as Associate Artists for 2022.
Fionn Crombie Angus is a pioneer in self-directed support and a social entrepreneur. His Happiness Project contains 600 filmed interviews where Fionn asks, “What do you love about your life?”
Co-Chair of the International Inclusive Research Group and Ambassador for Citizen Network, he has lectured at 30 colleges and visited 90 primary school teaching nature. As a visual artist he’s shown works in Galway, London, and New York, and he’s an accomplished fiddler, playing on travels from the Amazon to Zanzibar.
As a Founding Officer of the Down Syndrome Policy Group, he is leading the charge toward the expected passage of the Down Syndrome Act UK 2022. As part of his lobbying efforts, he recently met with 107 MPs in British Parliament, who each lined up for selfies with him.
Jonathan Angus taught children, with and without additional learning needs, for 25 years, mostly in East Clare. While researching a PhD, he agreed when, upon leaving school, Fionn asked to be accompanied on his serious/playful quest for a great life. Fionnathan Productions was born. Along the way, they share knowledge gained on their adventures, through stories and art.
The Associate Artists will complement the Embrace Programmes ongoing work of supporting artists who have a disability through creative and professional development opportunities, residencies, mentorships, platforms and practical supports which facilitate the development of all arts and disability practices today.
As part of their role as associate artists Fionnathan will deliver a series of presentations and workshops for mental health & disability organisations, their clients and for artists who facilitate creative projects within this field in Clare. They will receive support from the Embrace programme in developing their artistic professional practice and will also have the opportunity to work with the dramaturge Miquel Barceló to develop and deliver a new multi-disciplinary theatre piece which will be showcased in 2023.
