Ann McBride is an artist, illustrator and ceramic designer. A native of Co Clare, she is based in Stonehall, Newmarket on Fergus, East Clare. She holds a BA in Ceramic Design from LSAD (2016).
Her work is primarily concerned with the aesthetic appeal of movement. It is a feature in her illustrations, birds in flight, dancers, divers in motion – these capture joy and performace on the static ceramic surface. Illustration is at the core of her practice and the ceramic forms provide the canvas to create a new narrative. Surface decoration techniques are enhanced by her unique illustrations.
She has participated in group exhibitions in CI Clay/works, Printworks, Dublin Castle (2020), CI Touchstone, Farmleigh, Dublin (2017) and New Designers Exhibition – Emerging Design, London (2017). She has worked on projects/programmes: TAP, Clare Arts (2019/2020), Argillà Italia Italy (2020) Ceramics Residency LSAD (2019/20). Selected for Wings Ceramics exhibition, Paxos, Greece 2023.
