“Nuala Kennedy is a critically acclaimed and award-winning touring and recording artist. She sings, plays flute and whistle and writes songs and tunes. In addition to her solo work, she performs in The Alt with John Doyle and Eamon O’ Leary and Oirialla with Gerry ‘fiddle’ O’ Connor.
Her work draws on Irish and Scottish traditions and often blends sources and influences with a studied understanding of history and transmission, but she’s always out to find ways to make them sound like today.”
Dan Neely – The Irish Echo 2016
Nuala is known for her creative reworking and re-imagining of traditional song and for a unique flute style, formed in her native Dundalk and honed in Scotland where she lived for many years. She now lives in Ennis with her Appalachian singer husband A. J. Roach and their two young children.
